DebtBook is looking for a Engineering Manager

    About DebtBook

DebtBook provides an industry-defining software platform that revolutionizes the way governments, not-for-profits, and their professionals manage debt and leases. It empowers them to provide more and better critical services to improve the communities in which we all live. We continually improve our product to serve our customers well and solve more of their problems. There is an… enormous opportunity to build a product that modernizes the way public finance works.

    About this Role

The Product & Engineering team is responsible for designing and developing an easy-to-use product that enables finance teams around the country to effectively manage all of their debt and lease obligations. The engineering team partners closely with designers and product owners on the team to help solve problems, deliver new features and build impactful products. We believe the most effective product teams are ones that work extremely collaboratively across the various roles, so in addition to being responsible for the technical success of a new product, engineers are expected to occasionally participate in the design process and product planning exercises. As an early team member, you'll get a chance to build our engineering culture and influence the architecture of our products.

We strongly emphasize trust, mentorship, and collaboration. We care about building the right thing, the right way, and working well together while we do it. Every member of our team has the freedom and responsibility to make DebtBook a great place to work.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage a Team - Lead daily and weekly team meetings. Make sure the team is spending time together and building strong connections since we work remotely. Ensure the team is working well with Product and Design, and other engineering teams.
    • Deliver - Ensure the team creates high quality technical designs and plans. Monitor work to ensure appropriate progress is made. Help the team readjust plans when circumstances change.
    • Technical Guidance - Help facilitate technical decisions and guide decisions. Don't pick the solution, but push back on problematic solutions and if necessary veto plans. Review pull requests and ensure standard best practices are being followed.
    • Recruit - Perform outreach, review resumes, and interview candidates. Work with the team to improve our hiring and onboarding processes.
