Progressive Design is looking for a Electrical Engineering Manager

    Progressive Design, Inc. is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Department Manager. This is a full-time/direct hire position that is located in Midlothian, VA (Richmond, VA area). The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for the management of the Electrical Department, planning, production, personnel, management of assigned accounts, performing Project Management… responsibilities, willing and able to visit client facilities, perform field work and technical research, perform technical studies, and calculations, maintain project files and documentation, allocate tasks to project team members, develop subsequent solutions, write and effectively communicate scopes of work and proposals, and has experience in manufacturing to understand the various roles: production, maintenance, planning, and HS&E associated with Engineering & Design.

    General Responsibilities:

    *Plan and implement business development and growth goals
    *Maintain strong line of communication with the company's management team and all project team members. (The utilization of a formalized and documented management review procedure will serve as a primary means of maintaining this line of communication.)
    *Develop bids, proposals, scopes of work, scope changes, correspondence, estimates schedules, material lists, specifications, theories of operation, programming documentation, design concepts, design drawings and other project documentation per customer and corporate guidelines
    *Maintain project funding in advance of monthly invoicing cycle
    *Negotiate contractual terms and conditions
    *Allocate tasks to project team members
    *Maintain budget and schedule
    *Provide guidance and assistance to staff members on day-to-day matters, such as, task assignments, technical and procedural requirements, and employee education and training initiatives
    *Management of electrical department's performance including coaching and mentoring
    *Recruit, hire, and train electrical department staff
    *Performance evaluations & compensation reviews
    *Review and approve hourly, material and contract service charges for assigned projects
    *Perform field work and technical research
    *Perform technical studies and calculations
    *Maintain project files and documentation
    *Certify accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services in assigned areas of responsibility
    *Maintain commitment to stay up to date on new and relevant technologies

    Requirements:

    *Professional Engineers license
    *BSEE or BSEET
    *Experience in a heavy industrial environment
    *Five years management experience
    *Knowledge of relevant risk management issues (contractual terms, technical feasibility, etc.)
    *Comprehensive and competent knowledge of production procedures, quality assurance, application-specific requirements, etc.
    *Proven technical and business writing skills
    *Proven project management and leadership skills
    *Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, various CAD software packages, and various project management software tools
    *Strong communication and organizational skills
    *Strong ethics and corporate loyalty
    *Must be results-oriented
    *Must be a team player
    *Must possess uncompromised commitment to quality
