    The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineer Manager (Level K), to join the Space & Launch Software Engineering Team and will be located in Chantilly, VA. This position will support the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Space & Launch (S&L) Software Engineering organization.

    This role will work with The S&L Software Ground Mission Planning Leader and be responsible for S&L software and program practices, processes, quality, cost control, and schedule performance for all engineering development and production activities for SW program execution. They will directly lead a team of software employees in multiple locations and have software and project management responsibilities.

    The organization seeks a motivated, and creative Software Engineering Manager to lead & develop new solutions, campaigns, and support existing capabilities. The selected candidate will be required to travel occasionally to multiple Boeing locations, including but not limited to travel to Mountain View CA, Aurora CO, Mesa AZ, and Seal Beach/El Segundo CA, and/or Fairfax, VA.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Manage employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering and Project Management
    • Develops and implements integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures and guides the development of business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
    • Acquires resources for organizational activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
    • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and team members
    • Provides guidance and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
    • Leads, develops and motivates employees to ensure employee retention
    • Ability to think critically, problem solve and comfortable working through ambiguity as the need arises
    • Ability to embrace change & ambiguity
      This position is currently expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Chantilly, VA location.

    This position requires an active Top-Secret U.S. Security Clearance with a current Sensitive Compartmented Information based on a Tier 5-formerly SSBI (U.S. Citizenship required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active) This position also requires ability to obtain Counter Intelligence (CI) Polygraph Post-Start.

    Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

    • Experience managing or leading engineers, projects, and processes
    • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
      Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
    • Experience with Software Engineering development execution, processes, skills, technology, and practices
    • Experience/knowledge of the GOINT domain and associated customer stakeholders
    • Familiarity with practices such as test-driven development (TDD), agile/SAFe software development, continuous integration, and dependency management
    • Project management experience executing software development projects
    • Experience working with cross functional and remotely located teams
    • Experience using cloud-based infrastructure (AWS)
      Typical Education/Experience:
    • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
      Travel:

    Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

    This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.
