GDIT is seeking a Sr. Full Stack Developer to support the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). In this role you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and administering systems, applications, and tools. You should have a strong background in backend development, including database design, software engineering, and object-oriented programming.

You will impact the mission of the CDC by providing the tools and infrastructure necessary for the organization to achieve its public health goals. This includes the development of software applications to facilitate the analysis of genomic data, creating systems to securely store and manage genomic data, and developing algorithms to identify patterns in the data that will inform public health interventions. Additionally, your work will provide the platform necessary for clinicians, scientists, and public health professionals to access relevant genomic data quickly and easily, allowing them to make informed decisions about public health care and disease prevention.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Design, develop, and maintain software systems and applications for NGS technologies
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications.
  • Create and maintain software documentation
  • Develop and maintain database architecture and design
  • Design and develop data analysis algorithms and scripts
  • Develop and implement software engineering best practices
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define software requirements
  • Perform unit and integration testing of software applications
  • Ensure quality assurance of software applications
  • Develop and maintain user-friendly interfaces.
  • Monitor system performance and optimize code

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on software development experience using the latest Javascript standards in both the back-end and front-end
  • Experience with developing web applications
  • Experience using MV* frameworks for front-end development, such as React
  • Experience with Node.js and frameworks, such as Express, StrongLoop, Hapi
  • Experience consuming and writing RESTful APIs
  • Experience working with asynchronous Javascript using callbacks, promises, and ES6 generators
  • Must be proficient with MongoDB Non-Relational Database
  • Experience using Git and Git version control frameworks, such as GitHub and GitLab
  • Proficiency with OpenShift and continuous integration systems, such as Jenkins, TravisCI, Circle CI, or GitHub Actions
  • Minimum of two years experience working with Docker
  • Security Clearance Level: Must be able to obtain a CDC Public Trust

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with Agile teams following either Kanban or Scrum
  • Proficient in writing unit test code and routinely using frameworks, such as Jasmine, Mocha, Chai, and Jest
  • Familiarity with visualization libraries, such as D3, Canvas.js, Highcharts, or Google Charts
  • Experience developing and supporting web applications that achieve cross-browser support through standards compliance (e.g., HTML5, JavaScript polyfills, CSS shims)

Location: Remote but prefer someone within commuting distance to client site in Atlanta
