Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist for employment in the Denver, CO office. This position is expected to begin in September 25, 2023.
As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex data sets to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with data and has a strong analytical mindset. The ideal candidate should possess solid technical skills, attention to detail, ability to communicate and represent data, and excellent problem-solving abilities. This is a long-term role with opportunities to set standards for data processing on this project and others like it within AECOM.
Responsibilities:
- Organize, clean, and process large and complex data sets from various sources.
- Skillset necessary to develop basic coding data analytic tools of small data sets
- Build data processing workflows and code routines for Microsoft Office Suite based products
- Input new data into routines and analyze results for quality confirmation and results summary
- Communicate out results of data analysis
- Writing skills in order to develop technical procedure documents
- Create data visualizations, dashboards, summary tables, and reports to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with team members to report out data findings and recommendations
- Perform analysis of data based on various inquiries to answer construction-based questions.
- Independently monitor and maintain a multitude of data sets
- Automate quantities and metric numbers in order to communicate to the management team
- Adjust and maintain scripts and data workflows based on needs adjustments and different desired outcomes
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Science, Engineering or a related discipline or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with programming languages such as VBA (and implementing Macros), Python, Java or other.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with SQL or database management systems.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and creating insightful dashboards and reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with complex and unstructured data.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to effectively present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive and self-motivated attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Skills to translate data between Microsoft Suite and a GIS environment. Basic GIS software understanding recommended.
- Certification in data analysis or related fields
Additional Information
- Relocation is available for this position.
- Offered rate of compensation (Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $48,915 - $85,600.
