Atlantic Union Bank is looking for a System Engineering Manager (HYBRID - Richmond, VA)

    Position Description

    The System Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of engineers and administrators to design, implement, and maintain technical solutions that leverage both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure and technologies. This includes overseeing ongoing operations of all data center infrastructure and virtualized systems, developing recommendations to advance the… enterprise technology roadmap, and maintaining security of the ecosystem through focused and timely vulnerability remediation.

    Position Accountabilities

    • Manage system engineers and administrators to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, provision new systems, and maintain enterprise technology standards
    • Develop, deliver and support cost-effective and secure technology infrastructure on-premises and in the cloud with a focus on automation, sustainability, and best practice standards
    • Design and administer infrastructure solutions leveraging various virtualization and storage technologies
    • Perform as a subject matter expert and escalation point to provide tier 3 technical support and architectural recommendations for all infrastructure technologies
    • Proactively identify potential issues with security, performance, capacity, usability, or sustainability and design infrastructure solutions to continuously improve the technologies deployed at AUB
    • Oversee data backup, retention, and recovery practices and procedures for both on-premises and cloud hosted platforms
    • Monitor production systems and applications and conduct proactive system capacity planning
    • Maintain and execute patch management procedures for critical business systems
    • Develop and maintain enterprise disaster recovery processes to support business defined objectives and continuity plans
    • Coordinate with technology vendors and manage relationships
    • Develop and support service level agreements, system and application availability metrics, and management reports
    • Maintain staffing levels, processes, and procedures as appropriate to support service level commitments
    • Develop and maintain cross-training program to distribute application specific knowledge across entire system engineering team
    • Participate in enterprise projects and third-party software evaluations to assess technical fit and ensure alignment between business and IT goals
    • Manage and lead technology focused projects that improve security, sustain hardware and software life cycles, or improve overall IT capabilities and services
    • Understand and remain current on industry trends and provide input on infrastructure lifecycle and what’s next for infrastructure technologies within IT operations
    • Participate in major incident reviews, assisting in the identification of root cause and remediation needed to permanently restore service
    • Provide afterhours support as needed for critical systems (ex: planned maintenance & escalations)

    Organizational Relationship

    This position reports to the Director of Technology.

    Position Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    • Associate or Higher College degree, or equivalent experience
    • Degree in a computer technology field or related fields is preferred
    • Certification in Microsoft system administration
    • At least 6 years of experience within IT system or server administration

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Ability to communicate and interact successfully with a diverse community and to develop and maintain positive professional relationships with the team and our customers
    • Broad technical foundation, including an in depth knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, utilities, and applications
    • Ability to coach, develop and manage technical teams
    • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
    • Creative thinking and problem solving
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with focus in technical or instruction-oriented writing and in clearly communicating complicated concepts over the phone, in person and in writing
    • Microsoft Azure, Azure AD, Enterprise Apps, Office 365
    • Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server, and Group Policy
    • VMware ESXi, VCenter, and SRM
    • Knowledge in storage array administration (Pure Storage, Nimble, etc.)
    • Experience in cyber security and how it relates to Microsoft technologies

    Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
