    The Design Team Manager leads and manages a team of technical resources responsible for the development of the electronic equipment for Subsite® Electronics. This includes the electrical schematic & system design, selection of sensors & control devices, investigation of new technologies, and support of products during their life cycle. The Design Team Manager contributes to the development of overall product line strategy and in particular the electrical and control technology utilization to support the product line vision and performs other duties as assigned.

    What Will You Do? 

    In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

    • Lead the definition, planning, and execution of new product development projects to ensure that the scope is clearly defined, risks are appropriately identified, and plans are put in place to carry the project through to completion.
    • Develops an annual budget and audit/manage cost performance accordingly for the design team.
    • Manages design team staffing to ensure functional capability and capacity aligns with business plans and objectives and distributes workload among team personnel to properly support projects and objectives.
    • Develops and implements individual, project, and team level measurements to encourage continuous improvement in the growth of individuals for future opportunities and the overall performance of the project and design teams.
    • Directs the development for assigned product line. Ensures that systems are developed with common approaches within product line, use appropriate technologies for construction equipment, and are compliant with industry & regulatory standards. Works to foster information exchange required between mechanical, electronic hardware, and software design.
    • Develops and/or adapts new technologies to support the design of innovative, differentiated and profitable products for current and future Subsite® customer applications.
    • Ensures that company and department processes and practices are followed by personnel on the design team and within the projects being worked on which includes overall project documentation and information as well as the design output documentation and information. Recommends changes to processes and practices where improvements can be made.
    • Identifies and documents ideas and designs for intellectual property where appropriate.

    What Do You Need? 

    To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited institution; advanced technical degree preferred.
    • Five years recent experience working in a product design function with electrical systems, previous experience in managing a technical group preferred.
    • Strong project management skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    • Results-driven and action-oriented; positive and energetic.
    • High degree of personal and professional integrity.
    • High level of problem-analysis and resolution skills.
    • Good cost management skills.

    Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
