Edvo is looking for a Database Engineer (Rust)

    Why We Need You

At Edvo, we care deeply about helping people think well. We believe the next revolution in computing will be Personal Intelligence and Intelligence Augmentation — the same way everyone has a personal computer (now multiple personal computers), we have a thesis that everyone will have a personal database that augments them wherever they are, on whichever device they use…

This means not just building powerful and intuitive user interfaces, but also powerful network dynamics which foster and empower the tinkerers of the world.

These days, you’ll hear people from every discipline wishing they had a “common filesystem” where all their applications could share data seamlessly. The same way everyone has a personal computer (now multiple personal computers), we have a thesis that everyone will have a personal database that augments them wherever they are, on whichever device they use.

We’re building a new open source database engine with the express intent of creating a federated network and protocol.

Your qualifications/You should be experienced with:

    • The Rust Language
    • WebAssembly
    • Network programming
    • LSM trees and Key/Value stores
    • Building indices
    • Query language and relational algebra fundamentals
    • Peer to peer networking

In the first month, you will:

    • Come up to speed on the current design and data model
    • Review architectural plans
    • Build small PoCs for various aspects
    • Work on a centralized version of the database for internal consumption

    After that, you will:

    • Contribute to architectural discussions
    • Build out components of the federated database
    • Help create bench tests for performance and quality metrics
