    We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Ruby Developer to join our international team.

    About Our Customer:

    The customer is an educational technology company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the developer and publisher of Canvas, a Web-based learning management system, and Canvas Network, a massive open online course (MOOC) platform.

    Project Team:

    Joining our team means working with full-stack engineers with experience building web-scale services in a loosely-coupled but highly-integrated system. We work with such technologies as Ruby, Rails, Javascript, React, and PostgreSQL on Linux, and our platform runs on AWS.


    5+ years of professional software development experience

    Strong knowledge of Ruby and Ruby on Rails

    Experience or interest in different languages and frameworks. Being a skilled full stack developer, or an expert back-end developer open to growing towards the full stack (React)

    Experience working on cloud-based, high-traffic production applications

    Hands-on experience with AWS services like EC2, SQS, SNS, RDS

    Knowledge of DynamoDB

    Knowledge of Docker

    Ability to solve complex problems requiring in-depth analysis

    High levels of proactivity

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    Ability and desire to work in an open and team-oriented environment

    Nice to have:

    Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related degree preferred

    Knowledge of PostgreSQL

    Knowledge of Shell


    Join one of the two teams who closely collaborate on building, operating, and owning the quiz engine in Canvas

    Use Ruby on Rails to write key features to improve teaching and learning

    Learn and use AWS services like EC2, CloudFront, SQS, Lambda, S3, and RDS to craft cloud-native web services and provide world-class uptime and performance

    Use CI/CD (test automation, deployment workflow) to improve quality and deployment.
