    In Amsterdam at the Vijzelstraat office, The tech team more than doubled in size in 2021. For 2022 we have even higher goals and are therefore adding a Product Infrastructure team to our location. We are therefore looking for an Engineering Manager to join the team that can establish the DevOps team in our Amsterdam office. This team is responsible for working closely with engineering teams in Europe to understand their pain points, provide Infrastructure and guidance. The team will develop geo-specific solutions and contribute to building out our tech stack, including Kubernetes, ci/cd, observability, and tooling.

    You will be part of the team building our next-generation infrastructure and DevOps toolset for exciting new technologies that shape the future. The Product infrastructure team plays a critical role in this journey. You will work in a highly collaborative and fast-changing environment, and focus on improving every aspect of developer experience, service infrastructure, and performance of our services with DevOps best practices. Our applications are currently running on Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS), but with our recent migration to Service-oriented architecture (SOA), we’re starting to push the limits. We have begun deploying services to the Flexport Kubernetes Engine (FKE) and want to continue helping our developers use this infrastructure to own and integrate their services.

    • Create a strong product and architectural vision with a demonstrated ability to communicate, advocate, and execute on that vision.
    • Collaborate across engineering teams to align project priorities and requirements.
    • Represent your team with leaders across different parts of our organization.
    • Participate in critical technical design and product discussions of various initiatives.
    • Invest in the development and coaching required for each team member’s success.
    • Manage, measure, and communicate the team's progress toward goals.

    What excites us:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
    • Demonstrated experience leading teams that built and operated critical infrastructure.
    • Experience with K8S and the AWS ecosystem, including the benefits and challenges

    Our stack:

    Our continuous releases are integrated with Buildkite and Github. On the frontend, we create our views with React, manage the flow of data with GraphQL/Relay, and test our application with Jest. On the backend, we’re in the process of decoupling our monolithic Rails app. We have introduced a few network isolated services using other languages, such as Java and Clojure. Our data is persisted in Postgres and Redis. Our stack is hosted on AWS using Docker.
