    Job Summary:

    Our client is seeking an Engineering Manager. In this role, the ideal candidate will support the safe design and construction of a green field facility slated to start construction in Louisiana. The candidate will also be responsible to oversee and manage all aspects of work associated with the engineering firm and vendors including deliverables and finances for the successful… completion of the project. Along with that, the candidate will engage in all categories of the project including Project Execution, Procurement, Project Controls, Risk, Business and Commercial, Information Management, Health-Safety-Environment, and Quality and Startup.

    Duties:

    • Monitor and assess engineering contractor’s work processes and staffing
    • Audit engineering designs to ensure safety, operability, and maintainability of the facility
    • Monitor and assess the contractor’s engineering progress against the plan
    • Ensure project technical and contract requirements are satisfied by monitoring and reviewing the design outputs of the contractor and vendors
    • Participate and provide feedback on engineering and construction estimates and schedules
    • Clarify design intent and interpret company specifications
    • Review and approve requisitions for inquiry and purchase of equipment
    • Participate in and coordinate specialist participation for equipment inspections at vendor shop for major equipment
    • Ensure timely, high-quality contractor, subcontractor, and vendor deliverables are produced and that documentation is complete, accurate, and correct
    • Ensure operations and maintenance requirements are satisfied
    • Provide support for 3D models, process hazard reviews, and accuracy of piping and instrumentation diagram
    • Develop and participate in engineering quality audits
    • Coordinate the review of assigned documents
    • Meet the company's requirements for timely reviews and approvals
    • Active participant in expediting efforts when intervention and escalation needs are identified
    • Perform inspections and reviews of the facility during construction to confirm compliance with project and contractor specifications
    • Coordinate resolution of disputes between Project Management Team and the Engineering Contractor on design and constructability issues
    • Perform and coordinate reviews of engineering queries
    • Assist in preparation of the operations system for organizing and maintaining documentation necessary for operation
    • Coordinate a company review of Management of Change and PHA action requests
    • Ensure equipment is stored, preserved, and maintained in accordance with project requirements from receipt on site to system handover
    • Ensure documentation is turned over in a timely manner to support commissioning and startup
    • Provide engineering and technical support to the commissioning and start-up team
    • Participate in lessons learned gathering session
    • Monitor the contract engineering firm’s way of working to identify gaps that impede efficiency
    • Review of engineering firm output documents looking for compliance with engineering standards and project expectations
    • Interface with all discipline outputs to ensure alignment with their counterpart at Company
    • Attend to all engineering related meetings
    • Monitor action item progress
    • Perform a weekly review of engineering cost and schedule and production of metrics demonstrating adherence to forecast, productivity, and efficiency
    • Interact with third party Specialty Product Firms to ensure adequate communication with the engineering firm on concepts and documents needed
    • Ensure Issued for Construction Packages are in adherence to the Construction Team’s expectations
    • Evaluate staffing at the Engineering Firm to ensure the right folks are in the right role
    • Evaluate all project changes and ensure that, if approved, the change is correctly accounted for in all documentation that it impacts including the project ways of working

    Desired Skills/Experience:

    • Bachelors degree in civil, chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering
    • 10+ years of experience in engineering with leadership skills and responsibilities
    • Demonstrated experience managing engineering for major capital projects
    • Experienced in using TEAMS, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
    • Experienced in using Navisworks 3D viewing software
    • Ability to champions customer and stakeholder focus
