We are recruiting for an Engineering Manager II to join our Product and Technology Organization to lead up a new team within our Talent area. You will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of engineering teams building and supporting our products and solutions. Acting as a servant leader to provide direction over meaningful cross-team initiatives that are essential in Paylocity’s growth story. This position requires a commitment to exceptional results, a strong desire for continuous improvement and the ability to build a collaborative culture within the team. This in turn will ensure we continue to innovate and expand our market-leading product suite. Engineering Manager II’s are leaders of our engineering teams, responsible for creating, enhancing, and supporting common features. Working side-by-side with Product Owners, Software Test Engineers, and Business Stakeholders, they are actively involved in the complete software development life cycle in an agile environment including technical design, hands-on coding, unit testing, integration testing, performance tuning, maintenance, test automation, deploys and upgrades. What You Will Be Doing
- Independently lead an engineering team in the development or enhancement of products, solutions, and processes
- Understand, facilitate, and evolve the core processes of team (development, planning, on-call rotations, bug triage, metrics review, etc.)
- Empower and unblock a team to deliver impact at a high velocity by establishing efficient execution and operational processes and hold the team accountable while cultivating a healthy team environment
- Coach and mentor team members toward achieving expectations and progressing in their career
- Lead overall health and engineering quality of the product(s) owned within a domain or function
- Independently lead the activities of a team towards execution on projects/goals that are often beyond the scope of immediate team
- Initiate and lead cross-team collaboration
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of software delivery experience in a SaaS web development environment
- Experience with Domain Driven Design, cloud-based solutions, and modernization of software systems
- Experience directly managing engineers
- Familiarity with cloud-based Source Code Management, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
- Experience with managing a large-scale SaaS production environment for availability, reliability, and resiliency
- GitHub experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages including C#
- Proficiency in Agile development best practices
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills that enable collaboration with technical or business-centric peers
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, including Pub/Sub, Lambda and S3
- Experience with .Net Core
- Experience with NoSql (MongoDB + Atlas)
- Experience with RESTful API design and development
