Overview:
Waters Corporation is currently seeking a Engineering Manager - Machining to join our organization. In this role, the individual will join our Global Machining Operations here in our Milford Headquarters. The Engineering Manager, is responsible for leading a team in the design / development of new and novel machining and fabrication processes to be used in support of Waters Liquid… Chromatography ( LC ) product development and production. This individual will lead a team of experienced engineers in the design and development of these products and processes with primary support for machining and fabrication production. Additionally, this individual will support product development in the area of design for manufacturing and other related support for new product development. This person must be able to independently lead an Engineering team, with minimal supervision, in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly technical setting, and successfully interact with members of other organizations in a cross-functional development environment. A successful candidate must be highly self-motivated and have a fundamental understanding of general manufacturing, machining and complex electro-mechanical assemblies.

Responsibilities:
Provide project leadership on assigned projects from start to finish, including technical leadership, and resource and budget allocation.
- Organize teams to execute development and release of new processes related to LC product manufacturing from conceptual design, costing, through production release.
- Mentor and lead a team of manufacturing / machining engineers in the development of their skills and capabilities.
- Interface with production management and other engineering functions in day to day production support needs.
- Take a leadership role in the area of continuous process improvement and cost reductions in a production machining environment.
- Support process development at suppliers as needed, including occasional field trips when required to introduce new processes.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written form, critical technical information regarding design and performance, including schedule, specifications and cost ramifications.
- Hands on manager capable of providing additional support, as required, keeping project deliverables on track.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations Management or related field of study with 5 or more years of project or engineering management experience.
- 10 years’ experience with machining and manufacturing technology.
- Demonstrated experience leading hi-tech products / processes from initial concept and feasibility to reliable, volume production.
- Familiarity with modern machining techniques including micro level processes.
- Lean manufacturing experience is Highly Desirable.
- Ability to apply analytical methods to solve design problems.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Understanding of IT systems in the area of manufacturing support is desirable. I.E. DNC networks, tool management, process documentation control and application.
