We recognize Rust is a relatively new programming language, so we are seeking out individuals who have just as much passion about Rust as us,and are willing to learn to become experts over time.
As a Rust developer at Zectonal, you will be responsible for the following high-level activities:
· Make frequent common-sense decisions that are required to be pragmatic and aligned to the interests of the company specifically to the development of our products
· Communicate frequently and accurately decisions and tradeoffs made during development of our products
· Collaborate daily on the tracking of bi-weekly development milestones, issue tracking and resolution, and product architecture
· Participate in the development, tracking, and execution of business Objective & Key Results (“OKR’s”)

Zectonal is still an early-stage startup where all employees of the firm are expected to participate in core technology related activities. All employees are required to possess expert-level knowledge in their respective domains. A Rust developer is required to know and stay adept of the following related technology areas
· Rust’s evolving core capabilities and standard library
· Working knowledge of Rust’s borrow checker, lifetime concepts, and stack/heap memory usage
· Working knowledge of asynchronous programming in the context of Rust runtimes and libraries
· Working knowledge of Rust’s common collections and their performance tradeoffs
· Knowledge of several specific crates that are deemed critical dependencies related to encryption, data query, communication, and data storage
· Knowledge of Rust’s build and test tooling and associated best practices
· Knowledge of benchmarking performance and engineering for size bloat
